Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado has saved my eyes, and I’m not even being melodramatic when I say this! I feel like I’m late to jump on the bandwagon with this one, it’s somewhat of a cult classic, but before now I have paid little attention to the sensitive skin around my eyes and focused on pumping all my money into pretty make up and expensive face creams. Poor poor neglected little eyes.
I’ll give you some background: While I’m a fairly good girl nowadays at adopting a soft touch when applying and removing make up around my eyes, and not ‘tugging’ the gentle skin, I can’t excuse the damage caused by teenage-me who clumsily rubbed unrestrainedly like her life depended on it. I’ve always had naturally dry skin around this area (and an oily t-zone, what even) so I can’t get away with this level of eye-buse without consequences! For years I had been using cheap and cheerful Simple Soothing Eye Balm, but I became increasingly concerned about the dryness/premature wrinkles and even more annoyed at the limitations this caused for my make up. So I decided to do my research and find something that might help me out – I needed a hero!
And I certainly got one:
The cream itself is green and has a kind of tacky, rubbery texture that is easy to dab on the skin gently. I usually apply this and my moisturiser after my morning shower, then go on ahead and make breakfast and coffee before applying make up in order to give it ample time to sink in. Despite the colour and name it hasn’t got a strong scent, definitely not one of avocados, which was kind of a relief for me! At £20 for 14ml it isn’t the cheapest on the market, but I actually found this pretty reasonable for Kiehl’s, and even more so considering a little bit goes a very long way! The packaging is understated and simple – the real effort has been put into the product.
The results… My eye area no longer feels tight and irritated, and the fine lines are almost imperceptible. I will state that my lines are caused by dehydrated mistreated skin and not ageing, this is not an anti-ageing cream, but it will help nourish the skin and encourage youthful looking eyes in the process. In the simplest of statements: this works. It is everything I have been longing for in a daily eye cream in order to soothe and protect, and I’m glad I invested my money in it.
Moral of the story – look after your very delicate eye area! Hopefully you never need it, but if you do then perhaps this review has shown you a possible saviour.
