It’s very rare that I will say this so brashly but – GO AND GET THIS PRODUCT. Just kidding. Kind of. So the Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil has been marketed as more of an oil than a lipgloss formula, a fairly unique and novel concept which appealed to me a lot considering my pout has been hopelessly dry since Winter began. It retails for £18 and comes in two shades, Honey and Raspberry, however both are ultimately clear on the lips so it is the scents you are choosing between. I picked Honey as it has a beautiful nectar-sweet aroma and looks like liquid gold…
This product will definitely appeal to fans of the popular Instant Light Lip Perfector as it has the same nourishing qualities which create that glorious plumped and youthful effect. The doe-foot applicator is huuuuge meaning application can be done in one single swipe! The effect is a very shiny lacquer finish to the lips which slowly melts into the skin and becomes more of a balm as the hours wear on to provide long-lasting hydration. My lips have never looked so smooth in the colder months, and I’m not the only one who agrees. I first encountered this product via skincare guru Caroline Hirons’ glowing review on her blog!
The product claims to be non-sticky but I have to disagree with it on that one. It isn’t glue or anything, but it does have a tacky finish. I don’t personally mind this as I feel like it aids the longevity and makes me less prone to nibble at my lips throughout the day, but people who like a subtle gloss maybe wouldn’t be fans.
So what is it for?
I understand £18 seems like a lot to pay for a mere lipgloss, so it’s a good thing this isn’t one. To me it is a daytime gloss and a heavy duty oil-like balm all in one! It prolongs the wear of lipstick but also looks wonderful on its own for a more natural and glowy finish. Obviously there are other inexpensive dupes out there which will probably do the same thing (pure coconut oil maybe?), but the packaging of this one is to die for. It looks so sleek and pretty with its little golden lid that I absolutely love whipping it out of my handbag at every opportunity. So if you’re on the market for a more higher-end lippie to take you comfortably through Winter then this one has a big thumbs up with bells on from me!
